First Wednesdays Street Fest: Enjoy a fun street festival full of live music, dancing, tasty bites, wine and beer, Kids Fun Zone, interactive games and other surprises; Cypress Street between Main and Locust. Festival Opera: Opera in the Park Aug. 1 – exhilarating operatic favorites on the lawn. Aug. 13 & 15 Jake Heggie Triptych in the Hofmann Theatre - a world premiere featuring 3 song cycles reimagined as fully staged chamber operas.
Family Chalk Art Days: Join us Saturday mornings from 10-11:30am on August 14, 21, and 28. Bring your creativity and positive messages! Help CREATE ART that can be enjoyed all month long. History Tours: Join us for a fascinating 90-minute history walk through 4 blocks of downtown Walnut Creek. Come see how living in our city has changed over the past 165 years! Every Tues. in Aug. at 6pm
Moveable Feast: A progressive food/beverage tour featuring three Walnut Creek restaurants, presentations by the chefs, and interspersed with art/history stops along the way. Public Art Walking Tours: Bedford Gallery docents will lead walking tours of Walnut Creek's wonderful downtown public art collection every Monday evening in August. Appropriate for all ages.
Scavenger Hunt: Join the fun and learn about Walnut Creek’s history and public art with a Scavenger Hunt. There will be a new hunt each week. Enter to win prizes. Movies on the Roof: Movies on the Roof will feature Moana on Aug. 21 and Jumanji-Welcome to the Jungle on Aug. 28. Enjoy a movie on top of the Lesher Center garage!
Paint the Downtown: Over 3 days, artists will paint downtown sites "in the plein air" (outdoors), allowing the public to enjoy the creative process. The event will culminate with an outdoor art show and awards. Family Theatre on the Plaza: For the young and young at heart, Fantasy Forum has been bringing the magic of storytelling to generations for over 50 years. Join us outside in front of the beautiful Lesher Center to watch the classic story of Cinderella.
Summer Concert Series: Get ready to dance the night away at Broadway Plaza’s 2021 Summer Concert Series!  Join us Thursday nights in August ~ music starts at 7pm!  Downtown Stages: Delight yourself with a variety of musical acts, artistry, dance and more at four downtown "stages" in the heart of Walnut Creek.
Painted Pianos: Local artists have shared their talents through paint and various artistic mediums on a variety of donated pianos. The pianos are available for anyone to play Jazz Concert by Sarah McKenzie: After the great success of her 2017 album, Paris in the Rain, this 31-year-old pianist, singer, and composer returns with the poignant, Secrets of My Heart. Paris in the Rain's title song became one of her signature tunes and is one of the highlights of her live shows. Aug. 20 & 21.
Makers’ Marketplace: We’ve rounded up the best local Makers of jewelry, wine barrel products, organic body, home goods, apparel, glass, and floral arrangements. This outdoor market is a free event; bring the kids and fur babies and enjoy live music. Sat., Aug 28.

Summer Ceramics Pop-up Sale: Join Center for Community Arts and the Clay Arts Guild for hands-on ceramic activities and a summer pop-up ceramics sale at Civic Park. Shop handcrafted ceramics, learn a few hand building techniques, and glaze a decorative tile. Enjoy a shaved ice from the Kona Ice truck that will be onsite.
